Expats

Expat Communities
InterNations is a social network to get tips about your new city and connect with fellow expatriates. They work with a freemium model: the free version lets you find and message other members and participate in forums to exchange tips about the city you're living in. The paid version tops that with access to joining interest-based groups, free or discounted expat events, and an expat guide.
The forum could be really helpful if you are about to move to a new city and want to check tips on housing or jobs.

Great For:

Finding other expats in your new city.
Expat Guides
If you are moving to one of the following countries - Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom - jump to Expatica to read about the country's taxes, health insurance, education system, visas and permits, transport, and more.
They also have job boards and house listings, which can be incomplete but work as a starting point to research the market. For the articles regarding cultural integration and other subjective topics, take them with a grain of salt, and simply follow the social cues when you get to your destination.

Great For:

Expat guides with important information.
Passports and Visas
Passport Index is an interactive tool for ranking world passports. Each passport is scored based on mobility: the greater the number of countries a person with this passport can visit without a visa, the higher the score is. If you are thinking about moving to a new country, you can use their "Compare" tool by inputting the passport you hold and checking the visa status for the country you wish to go to.

Great For:

Learning how easily your passport can take you to another country.
Tax and Financial Advice
This website contains information that helps expats get around with their new country's tax and financial system. While most of it is written primarily as a guide for British expats, there is also relevant information for expats from other nationalities. You can find tax information for Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, France, Hong Kong, India, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland on this website. There's also financial advice on topics such as opening an international bank account, offshore investments, as well as insurance advice. If you need more specific information, the website offers the service of putting you in contact with an expert that can answer your questions (with a first free 15-minute consultation for general questions up for grabs!). Take a look at their moving abroad checklist, that while again focused on UK citizens, will help everyone with the considerations that should be taken into account before moving to a new country.

Great For:

UK citizens to get tax and financial advice if they're moving to a new country.
Expat Guides
Expat Arrivals is a platform that helps expats with general information about a country, as well as guidance on moving and working there, accommodation and schools. If you need more details, they also have paid guides, but you can find plenty of information on the website for free, including in the website's forum, which is rich in answers to all kinds of questions about being an expat abroad.

Great For:

General information about your destination.
Expat Guides
This website has many interviews with expats telling their experiences on living abroad. While some of the interviews are already slightly old and the website does not seem to be updated very often, if you're moving to a new country, it can be fun to read about how other expats have adapted there and possibly learn from their difficulties and advice.

Great For:

Reading how previous expats found your new place.
